Focusing on Healthy Lifestyle Habits

Eat less, move more, drink lots of water, eat lots of veggies – those are the healthy lifestyle habits I have been working on. I have got a pretty good handle on 3 out of 4 of them. My problem area? That would be eating less. I have made great strides with that, but it continues to be my stumbling block. This is not rocket science. I know I can keep portions in check as long as I track what I eat. When I track, I stay within my calorie and nutrient range. I magically manage that because when I track, I weigh and measure. It is very easy to connect the dots here. My problem is that I don’t consistently track. My longest streak was 61 days, and that was almost three years ago, when I lost close to 30 pounds. More recently, I think my longest streak was 8 days. That would explain why I have constantly been losing and gaining the same ten pounds. I know this is the piece I need to focus on right now for long-term success. I know I can do it. I have done it before. I just need to identify the things I did before that worked. So, here is my plan:

My action plan:
1. Take a few minutes each night to plan the next day’s meals
2. Commit to one week of tracking and staying within range each day
3. Blog each day for a week to document progress
4. Plan a reward for sticking to my commitment
