Setbacks

Is it normal to have setbacks that you feel sooooo embarrassed to even log in to Sparkpeople? Mine bad week started last Sunday after work when I have an extra share after dinner. I have been sick with cough for the last 2 weeks which I think is allergy to some kind of food. I have a hoarse voice. This always occur when I have a stretch of bad eating habits. Now I don't know what to eat ! Which gives me more anxiety and choose wrongly.
The problem is this when I think I blew my diet all hell broke lose. Anyone has any advice for me to stop this from happening? I have gone to the motivation spark page and read all articles but still feel I cannot escape the mind shackles. Thanks for your help .

Emotional eating is a difficult thing to change, but you can do it! There is not one solution to this problem. You need to experiment and find what works for you. Here some examples for what works for me.
1. we all trip and fall and have such bad phases in life that we just overeat. Once you notice that you are eating for other reasons than hunger STOP! BREATH! THINK!
2. Do you have some motivational pictures for such a moment when everything goes out of control? I like to look at them when I am getting into overeating.
3. I also participated in one of the spark challenges. I liked it they help me a lot for consistency. You can find them under the Community page - challenges
4. Do something instead of eating if you can. If I feel, I am stressed, I need to eat...best would be chocolate and peanut butter. I know something is wrong. I stop - drink some water and do 5 minutes of exercise. It can be anything like walking around the block, jumping with a Spark video of Coach Nicole, do some squats or stretching, or yoga.
