It has been a while since I made a blog - or even posted much, altho' I am posting on the message boards every day, it isn't anywhere near as much as I usually did. I find that my concentration isn't as great as it was, and it was never that great anyway. I guess that the affects of my husband's death are still with me. Certainly at night. I am like a little child fighting against going to bed, even tho' I am really tired. Then most of the time it takes for ever to actually get to sleep. THEN when I get to sleep, the dreams start. As a result I am often really tired during the day.
I know it seems crazy but I have been playing The Rolling Stones occasionally for my hubby. He really LOVED them. I was never that fussed on them altho' I didn't mind them. His ashes are just above the stereo so he gets the full benefit. (I did say it seems crazy :-)
At the same time I have had to take my Mum and Stepfather to the Dr quite a bit because they had both been unwell. Mum is now on medication for the problem and is feeling hugely better. The running around after them (35 k's each way) leaves me feeling even more tired, but I certainly don't let them know that. It would make them feel awful, and not call on me when they need me. There isn't any other family around to do this for them.
I have been keeping an eye on my nutrition and am not letting that slip. It is too easy to fall off the wagon and not get back up. Today I went to The Warehouse (NZ's 'affordable everything' shop) to have a look at a treadmill which is a new model. As an opening special it is on for $600 - it will normally be $1200. When our Accident Compensation Corpn. put one into my home for 3-4 months while I was doing rehab after a bad accident, I used it every day, and was quite miffed when they took it away. I decided that IF this one doesn't cause me any pain or discomfort, then I am going to get it as my one treat from the little bit of money left over from hubby's Life Insurance. The other one I tried but didn't get (couple weeks ago) caused my hip to start burning within a couple minutes (I tried it in the shop) It is a reclining one which can be adjusted, but not to flat. I can't manage inclines. It was also a magnetic one so took more strength to get it going. This one I am hopefully getting is an electric one and it a much better quality one. They didn't have one in store, so they have ordered it in for me to try. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I don't know how much longer my grandson will be living with me (week-days) and when he finally flies the nest, I will have 1/2 the groceries and 1/2 the laundry for my walks, and with winter coming, will need to do something. I don't walk outside very much, however having said that, today I took my little dog with me to The Warehouse, and after we both went for a 12 minute walk in the park - a really nice change for the both of us, and the bonus was it wasn't as hot as it has been of late.
I have been getting my roof re-painted. It was getting quite 'thread-bare' and showing signs of surface rust in a couple places. The painter has almost finished that part, but will have a couple other parts to paint, to help protect it from the weather.
