barefoot running shoes

Friday, March 01, 2013

I recently bought barewalking running shoes. They are supposed to be really good for strengthening your feet and legs. I can't wear them yet as it is still too icy to walk outside but will maybe wear them when I go for coffee.

Has anyone used these shoes and if so what do you think of them?.

I have a pair of "minimal" shoes that I wear for walking ALL the time. They're my favorite shoes. My son, who's a marathon runner, wears the "five-fingers" shoes and loves those, so whichever kind you got I think you'll like them. They take a little while to get used to, especially if your tendons are tight or you're used to wearing heels a lot, so wearing them a little at a time sounds like a good idea ... by the time it gets warmer you'll be used to them and eager to go!

I have some. I use them inside for better traction and balance. I couldn't imagine wearing them outside. It's shocking to my bones to walk in them outdoors. emoticon

I bought a pair of Merrells "barefoot" shoes this week and I really like them. They will change the way you walk somewhat. A hard heel strike will not be comfortable. In terms of traditional support that some of you mention, they do not have this. In architecture an arch is not supported in the middle; it is supported at the ends. The barefoot technology applies the same idea to the arch of your foot; it should be supported by the ball and heel. This is another reason they say to break them in gradually, all the muscles that have atrophied from our footwear need to strengthen again. You can find out all about this at and natural running Good luck with your new shoes! emoticon

I need cushion and noticed the more they make these shoes to include the five feet, it just doesn't seem like much support! Please, keep us posted on the results and your thoughts, thanx! emoticon emoticon

I've heard of them and am very curious about them too. My feet have been bothering me a lot lately. I can't wait until you try them out! emoticon
