Since I'm retired now I can go to bed late and get up late if I want or I can go to bed early and get up early. It is my choice now. In my working days, I always had to get up extra early just to get things around the house done before heading to work. But never seemed to get into bed before 10:30 during that time of my life. I was so used to getting by on 7 or less hours of sleep per night which I know was not good for me. It took me some time to adjust to sleeping properly when I retired. Hubby was the same way. I was retired a couple of years before him and when he retired, he was getting up early and going to bed at the same time. Finally I told him...hey you are retired and can sleep in the mornings if you want. So now if we go to bed too late or I read until 11 pm then I make sure I sleep late in the morning. And this winter I've been getting between 8-9hours sleep now. Once the weather turns hot, I will have to get up early to beat the heat of the day. So usually I don't sleep as long in the summer months. Also think it has to do with less light in the winter and more in the summer. I just do not sleep with any lights even appliance lights so I have learned to sleep with a sleep mask now. But as the little owl says you will regret it if you stay up late and have to get up early.
