This absolutely should NOT bother me

But it does.
I got to work Tuesday and everyone was all excited that they found "myfitnesstracker" app for their smart phones and if they just log everything they eat they are going to lose 2# a week!!
This is close on the heels of the Special K diet (eat two bowls a day in place of meals and lose a pants size in 2 weeks) and the January "I joined a gym!"
When I reminded them all that I had given them the Spark People web site over the last years they said that it didn't work. And maybe it didn't for them, but I'm very skeptical this will either.
I guess that I should be happy that they are trying to get healthy and I should realize that different things work for different people but it just gets annoying.
And I have been logging what I eat relatively consistently and I am not losing 2# a week. And I have lost about 20 pounds and not changed my pants size. And when Andy gave up bread for three days he was showered with compliments on how great he looked and, well, you know what I'm going to say, I'm NOT.
Makes me feel like a jealous loser -- only one who is not losing.

On a happier note, I went to the pink zone game Sunday and the Penn State Lady Lions game and they won a share of the Big 10 title. It was fun to see them celebrating.

    It sounds to me like you might be working with a lot of people who hop on the band wagon and are looking for a quick fix. Long term results takes hard work and lifestyle changes which don't come easily or quickly. So let them be. Just focus on yourself and what you know to work for you. I say slow but sure wins the race.

    it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing...(except for loved ones)
what does matter is that you have changed YOUR lifestyle
and you know the choices you need to make.
Just maintain your progress so far, and keep heading for the horizon

    I had that happen to me, too. They can do all they want with their silly smart phone apps, but one of the keys to SparkPeople is the support & encouragement you get every day. You can't get that from a smart phone that scans food barcodes.

    SP works for Stayers, not for Fly-By-Nighters! You're one of the former; just think of the way the others are messing up their innards with all this up and down, quick fix stupidity. Outward changes can be very fleeting and are probably all in their self-reinforcing imaginations anyway!! emoticon
