I've decided to check my measurements on the first of every month, and add it to my blog for extra motivation and accountability.

Organized Chaos:
So, tomorrow is my planned Cheat/Splurge meal for the week. We are going to our favorite Mexican place and I fully intend to devour tortilla chips with salsa, beef, cheese, and onion enchiladas, pinto beans, and grilled veggies, with half of a lime margarita. And I refuse to feel guilty about it. It is part of my plan. I have worked hard all week, stayed in range every day, and I want to keep my body guessing. That being said, I don't want to just fall into reckless abandon, or into bad habits of gorging myself til I'm stuffed to avoid feelings, so I've decided to write up some rules to guide me tomorrow:

Splurge/Cheat Meal Guidelines:
1. THIS IS NOT A BINGE - you are not eating this food to run away from your feelings, because you feel bored, tired, sad, or angry; you are eating this food to nourish your body, to reset your hunger hormones for the week, and to mix things up with your calorie cycling. You are in control.

2. Eat what you want, and enjoy it until you are full, but eat SLOWLY, and MINDFULLY (at a table), savoring each bite of your weekly splurge which you have been looking forward to all week!

3. Do NOT eat until you are stuffed! No taking home leftovers -- if you leave food on your plate, it's ok. You do not need those calories, and the food won't be great reheated anyway.

4. This is ONE MEAL, not an entire day. This is a practice in relinquishing control, while still being in control of the big picture. Eat lean & green the rest of the day to balance out your indulgence.

5. Eat the splurge meal for breakfast or lunch, not dinner. Limit carb load for the rest of the day

    I wish I could work splurge meals into my diet. But they just throw me so far off track, and it gets scary for me. I admire your ability to allow an enjoyable meal without going overboard.
