Wow, I can't believe it's already March 1st! It feels like a "new beginning" ~ a new month, a new start! For the past few weeks, I've been planning an adventure that seems like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - to hike 2000+ miles from Georgia to Maine on the Appalachian Trail.
This is a rigorous challenge even for the fittest of hikers, but I am beginning this journey with lots of "extra baggage" in the form of weight and lots of fear and doubt that I can even accomplish this goal and see the trail to completion. But I'm not letting that deter me. I believe as I travel light (i.e. carry only the bare essentials in my backpack), I will also "lighten up" in mind, body and spirit.
I won't be alone in this mega-challenge. My husband will be beside me every step of the way. We hope to use this time to draw closer together in our marriage and also closer to our relationship with God. I think as we journey, our "mountaintop experience" will bring greater clarity to our lives and teach us valuable lessons.
I will share more in coming days about our preparation and goals for this trip. But for now, I need to go dehydrate another round of backpacking food!
