One Month Until Baseball Season!!!

Friday, March 01, 2013

I'm officially counting down to spring!!! The Sox are off to a good start in AZ and my only spring baby will be 6 soon! And most importantly, the pool opens in 85 more days!!! I have my priorities. ;)

Today I'm working on a crapload of homework, but I plan to get out with my snowshoes after my kids leave for school. The snow is heavy and wet, and yesterday I took my kids out on the quad at my school to look at snow sculptures. Well, mostly drunk college kids making bad snowmen with bottlecaps for eyes, but there was one art major who made a pretty cool Batman:

I saw him on my way to math class yesterday morning, and decided I had to bring my kids to see. When we got home, husband was home from work and dinner was ready in the crockpot and he was wondering where we all went! It was a fun, brief outing and I got extra steps too. :)

Yesterday for lunch, I took husband to Watterson in between classes. Watterson, incidentally, is the tallest dorm in the US, and they have an amazing dining hall. He had never been there, and I don't usually go there because I pack a lunch, but this week we celebrated our income tax refund coming, and paying off our old house in Bourbonnais with that money! (Major Snoopy Dance!) So we went to lunch. He couldn't believe all the choices! He is still having trouble with portion sizes, and everything he puts on his plate is fried. Ugh, drives me crazy. I had a huge salad and a bunch of fruit, and some jalapeno chicken and rice with beans. I did really good there yesterday, plus my healthy crockpot dinner last night. Probably could've done without baking chocolate chip cookies after school yesterday, but my kids thought I was a pretty awesome mom for making them so yeah...good trade-off! ;)

Tonight my daughter is selling GS cookies with her troop, and I will be RID of those evil things until next year. I did a great job staying away from them! I really, REALLY want a box of Caramel Delights to myself, but then I remember my pledge to have ZERO GS COOKIES this year, and I stick to it. My main strategy has been keeping them in the back of my van. Out of sight, out of mind. My oldest daughter has broken in there a couple times and bought boxes with her babysitting money, and kept them hidden in her room, and I don't have a problem with that. But other than that, none of them have even entered my house. I'm so proud. :)

Glad you are having fun in the snow. Send some back up to the south suburbs of Chicago. I'm still waiting - each time we get some, it's gone in a day or two.

My granddaughter sold just about 800 boxes of Girl Scout cookies the first go around and is now around 1007 boxes. We have troop extras in our house. I'm more of a salty person than sweet so i've been able to not eat too many. If I eat a whole box put together that's pushing it.

Keep up the good work. You are doing a great job.

You're doing great with your hubby - at least he is thinking about it now. Mine is only thinking about it because of a few bad acid reflux attacks recently. We have learned that gluten is the culprit, so he's leaving off bread which naturally reduces how much he is eating. Now if I could only get him to eat some veggies other than lima beans, green beans, green peas and black-eyed peas. Oh wait, he will eat tomato slices and fried okra.

Your snow outings sound so fun. We have only had a few flurries this year. Keep up the great work!
