March is a crazy month.
I have two sons (out of my 5) with birthdays. My nephew has a birthday. This equals three separate birthday celebrations - and our family celebrates with food. And lots of it. Add in Easter and you've got temptation coming in from every direction!
So, as I'm making my grocery list for Barrett's (Bear's) birthday party on Sunday, I'm planning healthy options each step of the way. I've added a veggie tray to the appetizers, a salad (to go with his macaroni and cheese extravaganza - four varieties of cheese filled bliss) and healthy granola bars and low-fat ice cream to go with the regular cake and ice cream. I will enjoy some of the mac and cheese and I will have a piece of cake. But I will NOT have a vat of mac and cheese or a huge chunk of cake!!
I'm also thinking ahead of some low sugar/healthier type cookies to take to my nephew's party next Sunday. I've done the pumpkin/cake mix things a bunch of times... needing something different. I'll think of something!! Just need to be creative. I have a few more weeks to plan for Ben's birthday and Easter...
