5k -- My Way -- Day 19 -- In like a Lamb

The stats: Temp 35 degrees and no rain! .87 miles in 17:35. A good week.
It was nice to see a break in the clouds. Yesterday, it literally stopped raining as I came out the door. This morning it was bright, as the moon shined through the breaks in the clouds. Ineresting conversation with J. Of course I'm helping to use my ability to converse as a guage of the intensity of our walk. Talking is just the slightest challenge, as we're using the air for walking. Not hard to talk, but not effortless either. The numbers confirm that we're on pace.
Next week, I have my first physical exam in too long to look forward to. New doctor. The old one retired. But, it will allow me to get more baseline numbers on things like my blood pressure (which seems to be up), sugar, cholesterol and weight. Never really liked getting weighed by the doctor. I weigh myself in the morning, wearing little. She weighs me in the evening (when I tend to be heavier) and fully clothed. I know why I heavier there. Still, she insists her number is "right". We'll see how the new doctor sees things.
Also, I'll get to have her give the final OK, for the 5k. Things are going well, so I don't see an issue. Still, it'll be good to have her involved. I'm at an age when men in my family start to fall apart. By the time my dad was my age, he'd had his first heart attack, was a diabetic and had horrendous blood pressure and cholesterol. He was also a heavy smoker, a vice I never took up. My grandfathers were both developing cancer by my age, and neither saw 60. I have no intention of leaving DW a young widow.
Enough of that dreary stuff. It's Friday, it's a new month and there is nothing but promise for the future. As PLMITCH would say, Excelsior! BTW, if I can wrangle a ticket, I'm going to see Stan Lee at Philadelphia Comic Con this year. My eldest daughter has announced she's going. She's a big fan of Adam Baldwin, who is making an appearance.
