Poor planning

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Today was a good day, but I didn't plan well on my food. Tis week I have been running to keep up in the mornings. The days, especially morning time, have been messy. I ran out of time and didn't have a lunch prepared. I grabbed a bag of lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes. Better than nothing. I grabbed breakfast too thankfully. Had I not had breakfast I would have struggled at school. I did ok just eating the salad for lunch. I was hungry, but not crazed. However, through a series of events, we ended up getting McDonald's for dinner. The story is long and tiresome and not all that important. I suppose it is a good thing that my calories were lower earlier. Meals come with drinks so diet coke was on the menu! It was good, but didn't get me. I was worried if I had one (after 2 days of being good) that I would want ten. I don't it was good with dinner. Now I can get back to water. One thing I have noticed is that even though I have removed the diet coke for a couple of days, I haven't gotten more water in. I have actually gotten less in unfortunately. I haven't been loading up on other things really either though so I don't know.

I have been getting in exercise though. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I went walking and jogging with a friend. The days have been beautifully sunny but horribly windy! Yesterday and today I carried 5 pound weights while jogging to give myself an extra challenge and boy is it a lot harder than I thought. I am out of breath more of the time! I bet it drives my friend nuts! I can barely talk sometimes!

I weigh tomorrow and I bet all the salt in the McDonalds is going to show on the scale, but what can ya do? It's life. We'll see what it holds and go from there.

When I was in RN school I did a nutrition search of all the places I was tempted to grab something to eat. I found that there were one or two things at each place that I could eat and not break the calorie or sodium bank. I was surprised to find that a few of them had truly healthy choices if you lost 1/2 the dressing for a salad, or swapped the fries for something else.

    Good luck with school
