Wow, whirlwind week. So, Tim called me yesterday from his orientation for the new job and informed me that it wasn't going to work, and he needed to come home! Wow, I thought for a bit that I would have to make a quick trip to LA (7hour drive) to pick him up after work. But, thank God, we decided to look into Greyhound. I found a ticket for $45.00!! Score! So he's on his way home right now. He got three (!!!!) phone calls today from prospective jobs, so now he has to try to decide which one is the best opportunity for him. One, which seems to be the winner of the three, is actually a job that he was laid off from 4 years ago. He knows the bosses, in fact the local boss is his good friend, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that everything works out OK with that option. There is also opportunity for local work coming up soon through this company, which would be beyond incredible for us. He hasn't worked local since he got laid off from that job. He's been away from home, more than at home since then, and suffice to say, I'm burned out from that over the road schedule. So, my finger and toes are crossed and prayers are flying in all directions!
I might be on a Sacramento live morning news show on Saturday!! I'm pretty excited! We have a client that interns there, and has been telling us for awhile that he'll try and get us on air sometime. He asked my boss today and she said "NO!!" So he asked me, and I said "YES!!!" I LOVE an audience!! Haa! So, he's going to let me know tomorrow if I am definitely going on or not. The story is a little up in the air today, but if they can nail down some definites, then it's a go. I guess a woman told them that she will cut off one inch of hair per every $100.00 that gets donated to her charity. She has 25 inches of hair, and said that if $2,500 is donated, she will shave it bald!! She needs someone to cut that hair..........so if all goes well, that will be me! I will get a quick chance to plug the shop, and have a cool experience! Free TV advertising.......can't beat that. I'm kinda excited, but there is still a chance it won't pan out. I'll know by tomorrow afternoon. My client said that if this doesn't go, he knows something else will come up sooner or later and he'll keep me in mind. So, if not now, maybe later. They have a lot of people on air doing hair for various things.........may as well be me! It's a really wacky, silly news show, so I'll fit right in ;)
Woke up before my alarm today, so I got out into that gorgeous morning air and managed to walk for 50 mins before breakfast. It was really nice. The weather has been quite spring-like this week, which is super inspiring. I've started walking at a park that is 3 blocks from my apartment. There is an asphalt track around the park, and there isn't usually too many people there, so it works well for me. I average 17-18 min miles.......possibly less, I'm gauging it on my passed mile times. So I get about 3.5 miles in in an hour. Sometimes I push a little harder, sometimes I'm just lucky to drag my butt out and do the best I can!! I do like it a bit better than my other walking route because I don't have to dodge cars, or deal with exhaust. Plus the park is pretty, and in the evening kids are playing, and it gives me a sense of being connected to community.
My food has been going really well. I'm quite happy with my current plan. I'm tracking my meals, which is great. I don't know why I ever stopped. I am sticking to fruit/juice for breakfast, vegetarian/veggie loaded lunch, and a sensible dinner that keeps me in my calorie range. So far, that just seems to work better than anything I have come up with before. So, I'm gonna see if I can stick with that for awhile. I'm happy because I feel like I'm getting fruit/veg/whole grains and lean protien, everyday. I noticed with my SP phone app that the protien/carb/fat intake calculator counts as you go.......just like the one online, so I can easily see what my dinner needs to look like, based on how me first two meals have gone. The more I use the tools on SP, the more I can't believe it's free. What a HUGE blessing for all of us.
