Finally went to the doctor

Thursday, February 28, 2013

I have just felt bad all year and most of last year. Just though the arthritis was getting worse, getting older, etc. I felt like a hypochondriac and hated to complain but I HURT!

So I made an appointment and had a lot of blood drawn. 1. I have Lyme Disease. My one and only tick bite was last spring. My dog doesn't even have it. Good grief! The doc put me on a tetracycline drug. 2. My thyroid is not working correctly so I am back on levothyroxine but he upped it from 10mcg to 50mcg. Hopefully the aches and pains, the swelling, etc will be alleviated and the weight will drop off a bit as well. 3. Cholesterol is BAD. No drugs yet, have to get rid of the Lyme then recheck the cholesterol. Then the focus will be on other things once the drugs do what they are supposed to do.

Yep. Three weeks of antibiotics and then they check for the bacteria again to see if it is gone. Can take months for the symptoms to disappear after the drugs do their job.

Prayers freely given. I have a friend who has that and it is terrible~ Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but glad you have answers.
