Starving and Sleepy!

Thursday, February 28, 2013

That pretty much sums up my week! I have been feeling sooooooooooo hungry and sooooooooooo tired this week. I could blame Flo but I don't think she's due for awhile. All I want to do is stuff my face and take a nap!

Today, all morning, I couldn't think of anything besides Triscuits and hummus (well, okay, I was also thinking about a deep-fried Oreo cheesecake but that's because my BFF and I were having fun coming up with ridiculous food ideas, LOL) Anyway, at lunch I went out to the store (cravings usually win over tiredness) and got some Triscuits and a little tub of hummus. And I proceeded to eat... most of them. This is a perfect example of how I typically do things- I tend to crave food that a serving of would be acceptably healthy, and then just vastly overdo it.

I am guessing I am extra hungry because I am tired. But I don't know why. I have been falling asleep around 8 this week and sleeping like a log... like seriously, I haven't even been turning over or anything... until 5.

I told my mom how tired I feel and she had some very helpful advice like always.

Me: I feel really tired lately and I don't know why.
Mom: You should go to the doctor and get blood work done! Maybe you have bulimia!
Me: You mean anemia?
Mom: Yeah, that's what I said.

Typical Mom.

Hope everyone else is having a great week!!!!

LOL. Hope you don't have either bulimia or anemia! Sorry you were so tired and snacky last week...that's got to be frustrating. Maybe something is disturbing your sleep overnight, or you've just caught some kind of bug and your body is trying to fight it off. Make sure you take your vitamin and drink your water! I know that's not particularly helpful advice, but that's all I got. :) Anyways, at least Triscuits and hummus have nutritional value. It's not like you went and ate a ton of fudge or ice cream or something that's got absolutely no redeeming nutritional qualities! So yay for that!

Living in Oklahoma, I wasn't immediately able to recognize deep fried Oreo cheesecake as a ridiculous food idea. I'm pretty sure it's something you could buy here without any trouble, especially around State Fair time.

But I digress. Maybe you should look into a possible thyroid issue? Extreme tiredness like that was always one of my main symptoms. I could sleep all day and still feel exhausted. I would eat like crazy because I just kept thinking it would give me some energy.

Hope you get it sorted soon! And I agree with someone else above...you should quote your mom more often! :)

I hate when I get like that. I usually up my iron intake (some lean red meat or raisins/ prunes, Yep I am 80 at heart) and take a 'stress formula' B-vitamin for a couple days, but I do have anemia (mild, just a couple points below normal levels).

Feel better soon!

You should quote your mom more often... Love it. Anyways, it's just one week, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe your body's trying to catch up to you.. Maybe you're not eating enough? I dunno. But if it persists for a few weeks, then I might seek a blood test, but I wouldn't worry about it.

That's hilarious - the part about bulimia/anemia. It makes me think of my favorite part in the movie Zoolander:
- I was bulimic.
- You mean you can read minds?
LOL!

Hope you get figure out what's up soon.

I agree with the rest. When you don't get enough sleep, your hunger hormones go haywire and you're hungry all the time. Love your mom's comment! Ha! It could be thyroid related, also. A little trip for bloodwork couldn't hurt.

Bummer....might require a rest from heavy workouts. I lifted heavy legs yesterday and did a spin class today, thinking I could do with some "recovery pedaling"

Bad move.....a class I can normally crush left me exhausted....need to take a rest day or two.....easier said than done
