I can fix that

Thursday, February 28, 2013

A little ketchup... or rather catch up.

The blinds were mostly salvagable. So I spent an hour this morning rehanging them. Three of 17 were damaged by my misadventure and one was the original point of the whole thing. So four new blinds. About an hour putting back the other 13.

GARDENCHRIS asked " emoticon to funny.... if she asked you to jump of a bridge would you just do it?? LOL " Well let me say this about that. I learned a long time ago, before I even met Herself, when I am told to do something, short of torture or a genocidal war crime, I should just execute the action first then ask why later. That was from my Dad, my coach, the military. I know, this is my wife, my (purported) equal we are talking about, but we are short on time and she is not always available to call. So would I jump off a bridge? No because that would endanger my life. Would I rip out all the blinds? Sure because I can fix that.

---------------------

Mike's adventures in cooking put sauerbraten on the table the other night. He made the sauce from a bottle, but you have to start somewhere. Egg noodles not dumplings, which is just as well because dumplings can be so heavy. Sauce from a bottle ... I can't fix that.

--------------------

Now that we have hit a stop point on the house, the cleaning people came and I discovered *more* work. One of my window sashes is rotted at the bottom. Geez, it never ends, does it? But the frame is intact. At least that I can order it as a unit from Pella through Home Depot and put it in cleanly myself. So I can fix that.

And yet it only briefly stops. The mudroom floor has a decided tilt to it. It was a porch floor at one time long before we bought the house. And porch floor are tilted to allow water to run off. The house is nearly 90 years old so thing like this will crop up. But I can fix that.

And while I am at it, I have plans for the kitchen and it's appearance. Like a wall that isn't at 90º to it's intersecting wall. I can fix that ... or at least fake it out.

-------------------

But all that work was against a deadline. Colin's Baptism is Saturday afternoon and we are hosting the after party. What fun.
