I am slowly getting there (AZ is coming)

Thursday, February 28, 2013

I am slowly getting my act together. My BF made a point that when I get within a couple of months of AZ, my diet and exercise pick up and my interest in video games dies. I start my con prep. No, it has nothing to do with that, it's just Spring comes.....(Hands in pockets, whistling, nonchalantly)

The urge to get started on SOMETHING was too strong to resist. So I started that breast plate looking thing for Lightning Returns Lightning. I had wanted to use EVA foam mats, but started with the craft foam I had stocked at the house, oh and duct tape to hold the pieces together. Who doesn't love duct tape. I have a pic, but you'll look at it and go, "really you spent two hours doing that?" And picking the silicone off my V.2 of the original pauldron.

I also found the paint I needed to finish version 2 of the pauldron over the weekend. I removed the silicone to paint under it. Once that is dry I am going to re-build up with silicone and then use the glass enamel to color the clear silicone.

I am also hunting crin. I wanted tubular crin for the White Witch's "hair", but the largest diameter I have found is 3/4 in. I wanted at least 1 in or 2 in. So I may "make" tubular crin from crin ribbons. I will also need body make up for this one. If I finish this, I will paint my face under the mask like she looked when revealed in the game.

These are my current obsessions. I also still want to do Kasumi Goto, but not sure I'll get to it. A new single player ME 3 DLC comes out on March 5. Starts after the Thane no fix from Bioware for that. ( I hate them, but will be throwing my money at them on Tuesday)

Sorry, but seriously, the game conversations usually acknowledge the death of another character, even just a little. Nope, Thane got his name on the memorial and everyone talks about how Udina was a prick. Shepard and Leng are the only ones to ever mention him again. It still pisses me off. It's another slow day at work, I'll be retreating into my version of that universe soon.

Okay, not where I thought this was going to go, but hey. If my ramblings please you, I'm glad. I'll get to something sparky one day.

Oh, wait, thought of something! I linked my body media thingy a while ago. I had to up my measure of "moderate activity" metric so it would stop counting my normal meanderings around the lab and office as minutes. It's still picks up a few, but not 45 mins of them. Finding that magic number is hard. I want to count the walks I take, but not walking to the printer. I set mine for 3.5 or 3.75, not remembering at the moment. The fact that it under estimates my level of activity on the elliptical still annoys me, but wearing on my huge calf did help a lot.

I am trying to get my walks at work going again, but cold, wet and nasty is coming. I want to start something a little more strenuous, but just can't make that push over to it yet. Soon though, like maybe tomorrow, start up the bum bum.

Okay, here's a pic of the White Witch for you...

The weather sure makes a difference ... I have a difficult time getting motivated to walk in the cold, dark, wet ... however with Spring on the way ;0)

I may dress up for a con this year. Usually I just take my daughter and her friends but I have found a few stories I enjoy ... so we will see.

If the bf could be considered onto something in another universe (cuz he would never be right in this one) maybe you should find more cons to go to? Not sure how many occur where you are but there are several either in town or a couple hours away for us.

Good luck on the cosplay ... can't wait to see the final!

And now I understand your obsession with tubing sizes. Lood guck!
