Spark's numbers...

Thursday, February 28, 2013

First ...this is totally random so I apologize :)

Many of you know I purchased a HRM a couple mos ago and most recently I got some body fat calipers.....according to them I am still in an unhealthy body fat grouping...and that REALLY annoys the crap out of me......Sparks numbers are not even CLOSE to anything I've tried to compare to and I know they are just GENERALIZED on this site..I know..but for those who only have access to spark.....it's quite misleading...........either that or everything I'm trying is wrong.

In other news...doing turbo fire..LOVE IT. It is by far the best program I've done thus far. It is intense..it is fun and you can FEEL it working. My ABS are sore and I just worked out 20 mins ago...they will be sore for days....I look fitter..already...I love it. Now If i can just get my eating issues under control a bit more.... I'm making my own version of shakeology....with just green smoothies....I did order shakeology yesterday because I'm sick of asking questions I just wanna try for myself them I'll know either way if it's a crock of poo or it does something useful for my health.

Does anyone else out there have bunions? any shoes you find (to work out in) that work REALLY WELL?

I just watched a talk about runners last night and it talked about early ancestors and them not using shoes...we really are meant not to wear shoes....other piece of advice if you can don't wear your shoes sitting at your desk or all day because when they get hot the bungeon area gets really red causing it to get bigger....so the cooler your feet the less growth I have heard.

I never rely on automatically generated numbers.. on SP or at the gym. I wear my HRM whenever I workout because it is specific to my age, weight, height, gender, activity level, and heart rate- all directly functional to the accurate calculation of calorie burn. I find that I burn less calories than average (i.e. running generally burns 100 cals/ hr- I burn about 70.) and more than HALF less than what SP and the gym tells me. It drives me nuts when people say "I burned 1000 calories on the treadmill today" and all I'm thinking is.. ugh no, you prob burned like, 400.

Glad you're liking the new workout! Good luck with the shakes.

I found this article re: body fat.

rcentage/

I have the calipers, too and use the Jackson-Pollock 3-point method. I look at it more like a baseline, because unless you're doing water displacement, everything won't be "accurate", but just gives you an idea of if you're going up or down.

I also compared it to a measurement that was taken of me using a Tanita Body Composition Analyzer ("biometrical impedance analysis") and the caliper measurement was around 4% difference. So who knows, really.

Don't let it get inside your head, too much.

I highly doubt you are at an unhealthy fat percentage! Those calipers must be wrong - I know they can be very inaccurate, even when the person taking the measurements is professionally trained.

Glad you're loving Turbo Fire! Let us know how those shake things go!
