Weigh In Day - Spark Coach

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Today, Spark Coach talked about the importance of weighing in. The thing that I knew, yet still somewhat surprised me, was that they suggest only weighing once per week. I weigh everyday. I know this isn't the best thing to do, and it's a habit I have tried to break. I get frustrated when I see no movement, yet I know in my head that one day isn't always enough time to see numbers changing.

From here on out, I will try to only weigh on Thursdays. Why Thursday? I use the scale at work, and I work each and every Thursday. It's towards the weekend, so I will know what my weekend needs to look like. And face it, I don't want to add one more stress to Mondays!

I weigh in every day, because it keeps me on track and accountable. It really depends on how you feel about it.

Make sure to try other measurements. On the first of the month I get out the measuring tape and take stock of my size.
Loosing 1/2 an inch can be a inspiring tool

I too have been falling into the weight every day. I have to take into account that weight will fluctuate. That hormones, retaining water and other factors can have me up. I only record the days that I am lower.

Mondays are tough for me, too. I like to weigh in later in the week.

I weigh on Saturday, but sometimes will hop on the scale as a security. I have my scales sitting next to the refrigerator.

Interesting thought. I have a love hate relationship with the scale. My obsession with the scale will sometimes have me weighing in daily for a few weeks. Then I totally avoid the scale for 2-3 weeks. Maybe some day I will have a happy medium. Thanks for sharing your blog. Sounds like you and the scale have reached an understanding. I hope to get there myself.

I have an obcession with the scale myself. I check it every day. I need to hide mine for a while so that when I do get on it I see a difference.

I've done both over the past 4 years, after a lifetime of never even owning a scale. I think that daily weighing creates too
much anxiety over fluctuations.

    Good advice!
I think it is possible to weigh in every day but if you do find yourself being frustrated having to deal with the up and downs of a daily weigh-in then a weekly weigh-in might be more your style. I have an official weigh-in day; however, I do weigh myself each morning to try to take into account what I did the previous day to cause the scale to move up or move down. I don't stress about it at all.
Good luck on your new goal, it is quite doable!
