I came home from work one day and found a package at my doorstep. I didn't remember ordering anything; what could it be? I ripped open the package and peeked inside. Surprise! It was a copy of Coach Nicole's latest workout DVD--woo hoo!
Now, generally speaking I am not a big workout DVD user. I have a few, but I don't use them often. My house is not laid out in a way that is very conducive to doing DVD workouts; there is not a lot of open space anywhere. Still, I'm game to try different ones to see if I like it well enough to move furniture if needed, and I like having the option of pulling one out to use when I can't get to the gym or go for a run for some reason.
The DVD is a total of 69 minutes long and consists of 5 sections that you can choose from:
Warm Up - 4 minutes
Barre Body Blast - 20 minutes
Bodyweight Burn - 22 minutes
Sizzle Sculpt - 19 minutes
Cool Down - 4 minutes
You can choose your own sections, or there are also sample workout mixes available on the start menu that will mix and match segments for you. Nice!
I like this DVD; Coach Nicole mixes pilates, ballet, and cardio moves together for a good workout. I appreciate workouts that feature moves using multiple muscle groups, and Coach Nicole is great at that. I also appreciate that she has people with her demonstrating beginner, intermediate, and advanced versions of moves where appropriate.
My only complaint is that the countdown to start is inconsistent. Sometimes it's fast (321), sometimes it's slow (3--2--1), so it was a little confusing the first time through. That's really minor, though; overall I thought it was a good workout, and I'm happy to have it as an option.
This DVD is available at Amazon.com and in Target stores as well as from a number of other retailers. Members will get 250 SparkPoints for buying the DVD at
Target through February 28.

Is this a workout for a hard core DVD workout devotee? Maybe not; it's tough to make a workout hard enough for the really experienced yet easy enough for those just getting started. This one definitely got my heart rate up and provided a good workout, though, so it gets two thumbs up from me.
Note: I received this DVD free from SparkPeople but did not receive any form of payment for my review.
