Had another appointment today, got more good health news...I just love it!
Time was, I was terrified of doctors because I knew they would tell me I was obese and hypertensive and would need medication and should go on a diet and yadda yadda yadda. Now I am healthy and my doctors are pleased with me and - yeah, I'm a people-pleaser - that makes me happy! :)
The *one* health issue that I am struggling to resolve, however, is kind of a grody one. Apparently I have a fungal infection in, like, all my toenails. A couple of them are pretty bad. So the nails are thick and difficult to trim and they look kind of gross when you look closely at them because of that thickness...sigh. I assume it's from all the exercise I do, all the sweating in my sneakers and whatnot. I try to wear athletic socks that claim to be moisture wicking, but ...oh well.
That's not something that will affect my long-term health or longevity, so I'm not toooo worried about it. I do my foot soaks and I know it'll eventually clear up.
But I'll take toenail fungus over obesity and hypertension and fear that I'll drop dead of a stroke in my 20s any day!
ETA: LOL sorry for the surprise fungus twist partway through the blog...I wasn't actually intending to write about that but stream of consciousness and all that...
...anyways, if you ever find yourself needing to clear up something similar, the recipe my podiatrist has me using is: for every gallon of water, mix in 1/4 cup vinegar and 1/8 cup epsom salt. I do a half-gallon recipe every day in order to conserve water/vinegar/salt a bit more (since it's not like I actually need a whole gallon of water in order to cover my feet in the bucket I use). So far, it's been a couple months and not a whole lot of progress has been made, but apparently you can't use medical treatments if you're hoping to become pregnant, which has been the story of my life the last year. So it's the home remedy for me!
