Back in 2011 I attempted to run a sub30 5k. The closest I got to it was 30:23. Then last year I did a half marathon and trained to finish with no time goal. The weather was hot last summer and I did not focus on time for any of the races until the last one on Thanksgiving and that was nothing to brag about.
This year I signed up for that half marathon again but am focusing on a time goal. This morning I decided to see how fast I could run a 5k on the treadmill. According to my Nike Running app, I completed 5k in....***drumroll here*** 30:11 So close! I had to stop and retie my shoes at the beginning of the run. If it weren't for that, I might have done it.
It was a good run even though I had to stop and walk a few times after the 2 mile. I found myself running faster than I ever ran before on the treadmill. That makes me feel good about my fitness level because I am not getting any younger.
