No, I do not want a cookie. Please, stop asking.

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Y'all, for the most part, I truly enjoy the people with whom I work. And then, there are days like today, which makes me wish I could have Harry Potter's invisibility cloak so I could just work and be left alone. A coworker brought in cookies. She wanted everyone to try the cookies. She kept coming by to ask if I'd tried a cookie. When we found ourselves in the break room together, she brought me a cookie. I don't WANT the cookie, but I certainly don't want to hurt her feelings, and I'm not the sort of person who wants to talk about "I'm trying to lose weight..." all the time. So, I took the cookie, and put it by my desk. She came over a couple hours later to ask if I'd eaten the cookie, and she was shocked that I hadn't eaten it. "Why won't you just try it!?" "It's not personal, I promise! I'm just not hungry for a cookie right now." "Please, please, PLEASE just try it!" So I did. For world peace. I tried the damn cookie. And I'm still pretty baffled as to why she didn't just let it go.

Oh, don't take offense to it. She was just thinking she had made the BOMB COOKIE of all cookies. I would have hidden the cookie and told her I ate it and it was the best. I also don't go around saying I'm on a diet.

Next time just tell her it was delicious and bring it home and give it to the dog, she'll never know the difference
