I went to Florida the beginning of February with my fiends Connie, Bridgete and Nancy in our String quartet. Connie and her husband have a winter home in Naples so the other three of us went down and spent a few days. We had great weather, It was in the 80's the whole time.
We flew out of Milwaukee to Fort Meyers arriving in the late afternoon. Upon our arrival we headed for the beach changing out of our jeans in the back of the van. We walked the beach and watched the sunset then went out for dinner.
We took a boat out of Marco Island down to Key West. It was a fun boat trip and we arrived around noon and had the afternoon to spend exploring Key West. We walked and ate our way through KeY West. It was fun town. There were chickens and cats running free around town. There were a few restaurants we were in where chickens and cats would just come and walk around. It was kind of fun.
We walked across the island and I got to see the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I have always been on gulf side when I have been to Florida in the past.
Angel the cat
Key Lime Pie
Was our day to spend in the everglades. We spent the day working our way to National Park for a Sunset Cruise.
We stopped at an orange grove. It smelled so good.
We then stopped at an orchid green house. The flowers were beautiful.
We stopped at Connies favorite birding spot, there were egrets, storks, spoon bills and who knows
what.... may be a few alligators.
Then it was on to the Everglades where we took a sunset cruise out into the islands that make up the everglades.
We saw mangroves
A beautiful sunset
and some other wild life.
Was our day for the beach. We took a long walk along one beach.
Then went and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the beach at Clam pass.
We had a great time and are booking a few weddings to earn some money so we can make another trip in a few years.
