Plateau? BUSTED!!

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Holy crow! I weighed myself at the gym again today, and it said I am at 171 pounds. I double checked that on my home scale when I got home and it was accurate. That means I have lost 4 pounds this week! Wahoooo!! It also means I have now lost 149 pounds since I started this lifestyle change.

I can't pinpoint one single thing that got me off that plateau... I just kept doing the things that have worked all along. I have increased my running mileage a little, but not by any extreme amount. I have kept my calories consumed at about the same level. My dad says that those 2.5 months stuck at 175 pounds was just my body getting prepared to change my weight set point. I don't know if that is true, but I do know that I am excited to finally see that scale moving down once again.

The weather was crappy today, so Cooper got short walks. He just doesn't like it when it is cold AND wet. It was a gym day for me, so I figured "no biggie, I'll just do a couple extra miles at the gym." Worked out pretty well. I ran 4.2 miles on the treadmill, then pedaled 14.4 miles on the bike, then ran another 2.4 miles on the treadmill before doing my ST. I need to get back to the workout the PT set up for me with the dumbbells. The last week or so I have been mostly been using the machines.

Oooh... and I got my popcorn popper today. Now I just need some popcorn to put in it. lol My mom has a ton stored away in her pantry, so I will probably raid her supply when I go over for lunch on Saturday. (It is okay, she said I could!) I see yummy fresh popped popcorn in my future!

Don't be surprised if you gain weight with the popcorn. I gain 5 pounds when I eat popcorn (plain, airpopped in the machine). Go figure. Definitely love the smell.

I am so proud of you for sticking with your plan on your trek across the plateau. How many miles across WAS it??

That's a wonderful way to start the day, Leslie. Great work for perservering and staying with it until you broke through that plateau. I'm in one of those plateaus and it does feel pretty bad, but you have just lifted my spirits this morning. I know it will happen to me too........sometime in the near future, sooner rather than later, I hope.

emoticon GR8 GOING !! The "Official" weigh in for the Dawggies is on Sat,,,, so WOW !!!!! This will be a FANTISTIC way for you START OFF !! WOW HUH? Mine is ALSO very well (though certainly NOT 4 lbs !). Lets START THE TEAM OFF WELL GAL !!

I am SOOOO PROUD OF YOU !! Often the bod will hit a plateau,, did you perchance during that time,,, take your body measurements? If so, did you see any BIG DIFFERENCES in the size of your waiste, hips, arms, thighs etc, we call those the "non scale" victories. Those are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT !! So PLEASE GRAB a measuring tape now,,,,and take them ! WOOHOO For the NEXT ONE !

Great news about the weight loss and the popcorn popper! Don't waste your money getting the fancy colored popcorn. My DD tried some red and blue kernels, and said they taste just like 'popcorn'! Who'da thought? emoticon

emoticon . Just a word of caution, read in a aSP article that doing ST after more than 45 mins of cardio cancels out the ST and you don't build muscles because your body is in its catabolic state. I would post the link but I can't seem to find it right now.
