These boots are made for walking...

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Okay, okay they are not boots, they are support running shoes for my pronating feet, and I would not walk all over anyone, but I'm trying to get back to my theme of moving.
I have walked for three days straight, 2 on the treadmill and today in the sunshine-bundled but enjoying the sun.
February is a hard month for me, as I'm sure it is for many. My anniversary was February 7th, my husband of 35 years and 9 months died 7 1/2 years ago of a cerebral hemorrhage.. Valentines and my anniversary are rough, but I've made an effort to remember my children and grandchildren with cards and hugs. It's important for everyone to feel loved. I try to remember to give other widows at church extra attention to make them feel cared for and loved. A little hug frequently brings a smile, and occasionally tears but seems to be appreciated. One little old lady told me I'm doing better now. I told her I know, but she was still getting a hug for the unexpected bumps, she smiled and hugged me back.
I'm walking and i feel better. Now I better walk to my pile of papers and clean them up.
Y'all have a great Son shiny day.

I too have difficult over pronating feet. Finding the right shoes are so important.

I sympathize with the anniversary of your loss.
In our church on the Sunday closest to Valentines Day has always been the day for renewal of marriage vows for those marking a "5s" anniversary during the year and also any couple who had passed the 50 year mark. Then there was a special breakfast honoring them. Recently we included those who had lost a spouse who sit together at a special memorial table. It has been well received.
Of course, anyone for whom it would be too painful, elects just not to attend.

Walking always seems to help me clear my head. Special days are still difficult. I actually bought myself a bouquet for Valentine's Day and got out some old cards....maybe not a good idea but in some ways is was a wonderful feeling. Hugs and smiles are important and here are some for you emoticon emoticon emoticon
