Yes, it is almost spring. The snow has turned to rain; the crocuses are trying to push through; sometimes the sun even shines. I can't wait to get outside and do stuff.
So what am I going to do? Well, I am going to go ride my bike. I'll probably hike a lot too, because that is my favorite (along with geocaching), but right now, I want to go for a ride.
So, in conjunction with my healthy lifestyle journey, I want to have some goals for the year. Here are my biking goals for the summer:
1.) Ride a metric century (62 miles) in a day.
2.) Ride 100 miles in a weekend.
3.) Ride 1000 miles in the season.
The best part of this, is that my hubby and I are doing these together. (Not tandem together, we are not good that way). But we are both in for this set of goals. I wanted to share them here so we can be accountable to them.
We ride BikeE recumbent bikes. This is nice, because I have a bike seat that is as big as my seat. So it is a comfortable ride. It is not as fast as some other bikes, and hills are awful, but we can do these goals.
Around here, we have the best bike trails (literally hundreds of miles of rails/trails). We also have some ideas to go to a few other places and take our bikes and try out trails there too. We avoid roads though -- I don't want to be out there with cars.
We are starting to think about it. We are planning on riding short evening rides on Wednesdays and Fridays, and longer rides on Saturdays and Sundays -- weather dependent, of course. We are increasing our cardio workouts to prepare.
Come on spring!
