For those of you who don't know, I work in the back end of a jewelry store, selling pre-owned and antique jewelry on eBay (eBay ID: thebarefootjeweler if you're interested). Well yesterday we had a question about an 18K yellow gold and garnet ring in a size 7 1/4. It's very pretty, even though it's huge and not my style, so I tried it on. It FIT MY FINGER!

Remember how excited I was when my wedding rings dropped two sizes before Christmas? Well my engagement ring is now a 7 3/4 and my wedding ring is an 8 because it's a wide band. This ring is a whole HALF SIZE SMALLER than my wedding rings and it fits FINE. Score!

NSV #2 is the banana debacle. So yesterday I ate my banana after dinner. NO PROBLEMS. I think I might have been a teensy bit hungrier than usual in the morning but that's way easier to deal with than being starving all day.

My very non-scientific deduction is that the heavy dose of carbs in the morning is too much for my system and I should stick to peanut butter or eggs and a whole grain English muffin instead.

Thanks for all the suggestions as to how to eat the bananas, though! I think someone suggested slicing them and freezing them. I think I'll do that and half dip them in melted dark chocolate for a treat sometime. =)

On a side note, I read a blog yesterday where someone gushed over "clean eating" and then described their favorite snack as a Fiber One bar topped with PB2. Not to bitch, but I'm pretty sure that's not "clean eating". (DISCLAIMER: I am neither for nor against clean eating. It probably works for some people, just not for me.)

To clear up confusion here is the definition from cleaneatingmag.com:

"The soul of clean eating is consuming food in its most natural state, or as close to it as possible."

    It's great that you figured out this thingy with bananas...
I have a problem with greek yogurt... If I eat it after 6 pm I lose no weight at all! It drove me mad for 2 weeks!!! I checked my trackers and noticed that my plateau started when I started eating this. I changed the time of the day (morning or after lunch) and it works like a charm!

It's a great thing to listen to your body!

    Congratulations on the ring fit! I JUST got engaged on Aug 2nd and my engagement ring is waaay too big. I wear the largest ring snuggie I could find from WalMart and it still twists when wet. Like DAUGHTEROFTWIN, my fingers are a lot more wrinkly too.

I ate a bowl of cereal this morning with almond milk and an hour and a half later my stomach was growling like I never ate anything. I am similar to LIVEDAILY where I do best throughout the day if I wait a few hours to eat after waking up. Most days I either make a protein shake with 1/2c. cottage cheese, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 frozen banana, and 1 cup both water and unsweetened almond milk. It is sooo good and sooo filling. Usually last me 2 1/2 hours before I need a small snack.

    hi! thanks for commenting on my mosaic. i am thrilled for you about the ring! what a great success for the day. like you, if i eat a carb heavy meal in the morning it bothers me--i get hungry much sooner than normal. my favorite breakfast is homemade plain yogurt (its really easy if you want to try it) strawberries (and/or blueberries) and 1/3 cup of cascadian farms granola. the calories are low (i make the yogurt with nonfat milk) and there seems to be enough protein and fiber along with the carbs to hold me steady through the morning.
on saturday we always go to a little local place and i have one pancake and one slice of bacon. i usually get hungry much sooner, but since its the weekend we are usually very busy, so i don't have time to do anything about it :-)

    Nice NSV! That may be true about the carb and banana thing for you. Everyone processes their foods differently. I know, no matter what time I'm up in the morning, I can't EAT until a couple of hours afterwards. If I eat too early, no matter what it is, it basically just goes right through me, but if I wait a while, I'm fine. I've always been like that. Banana for/with dessert is a good thing!

    love your website. And to each their own on "clean eating"...I think we can go overboard on it all and best if we eat natural foods..whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetable and smaller amounts of meat. I don't think I could ever be a vegetarian eithre. And I do like to load up on my proteins for breakfast as it carries me through the day.

    Congrats! Especially on the banana...I love bananas and it's hard to avoid them. However, I have found that they are a great natural energy "bar" right before a big workout. The rest of the time I try to just mash up a frozen one and use it as a dessert. It's really amazing how sweet fruit can taste when you stick mostly to that and avoid regular sugar!

    You've really triggered my curiosity with the whole banana-appetite thing. I googled it (of course, I'm Googlemama) and found some slight suggestion it might increase appetite, but also found info that it increases the quality of sperm. That's obviously not relevant here, but interesting nonetheless. Congratulations on dropping the ring sizes. I've noticed my fingers look a lot less like sausages, but quite a bit more wrinkly. Thank goodness it's not my face yet.

    It's exciting to have unexpected "victories!" Way to go! One of my favorite snacks is frozen banana's & dark chocolate. Actually found it at the store recently - packaged by Dole I think. I'm sure I could make my own but right now, convenience is what I need in order to keep moving. Kinda funny about the clean eating - I'm not really sure what it is either (not my reality or life...), but I doubt a processed bar is on the list. Keep it up, you are doing great!
