Live your life & forget your age.

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

There are some days I feel older than I am, especially in the winter -- but I have to say, after exercising regularly & consistently for the last 6 months, I can tell that I feel much younger than last winter. That's a great thing!!

I go to an all-women's gym and there are three ladies there who are "recycled teen-agers." Two of them are in their early- to mid-70s & the other one will be 90 in May.

Let me tell you something, those ladies can exercise CIRCLES around most of us in there AND they all look far younger than they truly are. If you had told me Ms. Pat was nearly 90, I would think you were telling me a super tall tale. Let me tell you, that woman can Zumba like nobody's business!!!

One of my gym buddies told me the other day that during morning Zumba class, Ms. Pat didn't think Ms. Emma (age 74) was working quite hard enough & Ms. Pat said, "Emma, did you come here to work out your body, or work out your jaw?" emoticon Ms. Emma, not to be out-done said, "Well, you can burn more calories if you work out both!" I am so sorry I missed that class, but I was at work. Those ladies are a trip!!

Lesson learned: Start working out now, while you're younger. You'll look younger, feel younger, act younger, add years to your life, and you can out-exercise a lot of those young whipper-snappers in the gym. I want to be like Ms. Pat, Ms. Emma & Ms. Manjit (she's the quiet one) when I grow up. emoticon

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Great message and I guess you can start any day to get into a healthy shape. As long as we remember that "Today is the first day of the rest of our lives.."

I've always said, "Age is only a number." My great-grandmother was out chopping wood for the wood stove every day well into her 80's. I want to be able to stay active like that too! Ladies like this are an inspiration! emoticon

There's a couple of ladies like that where I go. If I have half their energy when I reach their age, I'll be very happy. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Oh I love that motto for today!
Age? What is that!? (So often I feel like a kid inside, and wonder that people sometimes tell me I am "wise". Who...me?)

Thanks for the uplift, Blessings, Joanie emoticon

I am blessed to live in an apartment complex that has a gym. As my DH and I open the doors by 7 a.m. we can work out to our hearts content. Actually, the fact that we open up is a forced method of getting us to exercise. I am so glad that we do have that opportunity. We have been told that we don't look 77 and 75!

Yesterday I had a thought, it has been 17 years since I was 40! I exercise 2 hours a day. I run about 4-6 hours a week. I have always been an exerciser. I enjoyed your blog. Hope I can be exercising in 20+ years.

Great blog! Those ladies sound amazing! Something to aspire to.
And I know exactly what you mean about feeling younger after exercising regularly for a while, and losing a bit of weight, I feel the same way. I can't wait to see how much younger I feel next year, after (hopefully) losing more weight and getting more fit!
