All I can say is WOW......

My daughter has a friend (young man) that decided to join Zoosk (spelling?). It is the "free" dating site on facebook. So this young lady approaches him via email and they chat off and on for a few weeks and he asks to meet her. I guess I should give some background info first. She has told him that she is from Spain and then moved to Canada with her parents where they (the parents) died. Then being by herself she decides to move to a small town in Washington state. Her English is very broken and she sometimes says things that don't make sense. So when he asks to meet her she tells him she has to go to Nigeria on business. You see she has said she is self employed in the jewelry/gold trading business (sounded suspicious to me!!) and she will gone at least two weeks. Well this got him to thinking also as he is a truck driver (self employed) and she had something confusing about trucks and drugs???!!! and passed it off due to her poor understanding of the English language!!! Well by now my daughter and I are both thinking run, run, run young man!!! So my daughter takes the things that she has learned from watching her "cop/investigative" shows on tv and takes the young ladies picture from her facebook profile and lo and behold there are more than one young lady with this same profile picture with different names!!!! Her fb page is new and she now has a total of four men (all truck drivers) as friends!! The other men have been emailed with the different names we found and have told them to beware!!

The computer world is so amazing but can be so dangerous if we allow it to be. So for any of you that want to "date" online be very careful as this could have been very disastrous to the young man that we know. And yes he has unfriended her and no longer has any contact with her!!!

It is shocking that these people get away with it so many times. The scams are worldwide (you hear of them here in the UK too). Your daughter did a really good thing for her friend and the other drivers she was able to contact. Unfortunately, I doubt it will stop the lady concerned until she makes a big mistake and the authorities get her.

They had something like that on Dr. Phil just recently. Some of the people (one woman inparticular) who would not believe any of the facts including the fact his hair on his drivers licence was sticking up above the line of the picture.
My older daughter is dating a guy on line and I had our local police check him out. He is who he says he is but I'm still wary about some of the things he has posted. Been waiting to see if he shows up. The newest date he is supposed to leave where he is at is Thursday. Wish she would find someone local, with a JOB and ON HIS OWN, with his OWN TRANSPORTATION. The internet can be wonderful. One local man just married a woman he met on line and I hear she's great. Other times it's an emtional time bomb. Glad you guys checked out that girl. emoticon

That is way scary. There was something like this on Dr. Phil last week. It is amazing how some people are taken in by these scam artists.
