Progress Feels Good

Today I did something I've never done before. Don't laugh, but I did a vigorous 30 minute workout on the elliptical--something I never believed I could do. In the past I would try the elliptical and quickly give up. It seems that the machines just did not fit me. Today a friend of mine got me started on the ellipitcal and gave me some tips. I don't know if it was her help, or that this particular machine fit me better, or a combination of both things, but I was able to do the entire pre-programmed 30 minute weight loss workout and it felt GREAT! The elliptical is one of the low impact exercises my sports medicine doctor recommended to me as I work to get over the hip bursitis. I liked how using the elliptical was somewhat like running, much more so than the exercise bike. Most of all, I liked feeling successful and having a great workout that will help keep me in shape until I can run again.

    cross training is the way to go.
