Saturday we flew into Tampa, FL about 9:30pm. After sitting for the flights we needed to do a little walking and get some food. The hotel shuttle took us to a nice place that we could have something light to eat. It was in the same shopping center as "The Blue Martini" where the New York Yankees often hang out, which explained why the women were dressed to kill and the guys were very casually clothed.
Sunday the cruise ship was delayed at least 8 hours for getting into port because the port was closed due to fog. We did a lot of trolley riding and walking until the line to check-in was shorter. Some people started lining up before 3pm. Finally the line was short enough at 7:30pm for us to join. We were on board by 9pm, with the muster drill at 10pm, followed immediately by leaving port, putting us 6 hours late in leaving.
It was awesome being on the top deck when we went under the Sunshine Bridge, which I believe it was called. I will see about posting my husband's video when we get home.
Yesterday, Monday, was at sea. Late in the evening we decided to change our original excursion tickets in for another one because we did not feel like spending the whole day gone for about 2 hours of actually exploring the "secret river". We decided on ziplining followed by a resort beach if we wanted.
We were able to sleep in a little this morning before heading out for the excursion. From the El Cid resort we had about a 10 minute walk to the pier where our ship was. It was nice and warm and humid.
Tomorrow is diving in Belize. It will be fun, just a long day because we are gone for 6 hours, and we are only in port for 8 hours. It is funny because the excursions get an hour shorter each day, from 6 down to 4 hours.
I told hubby that I would like to do a cruise some time where we plan no excursions until the day before. That way if we are tired and feel like lazing on the ship, no problem. I will write again probably on Saturday when we are at sea all day and I need to work on schoolwork at the computer anyways.
I hope all have a great week!
