Alrighty everyone, so its been about two weeks since I worked out (excluding yesterday), but that is alright! I am proud to announce that I now fit back in to my most recently purchased jeans without needing an elastic band wrapped around the button! I am thinking that my pants size when I started this journey was about a 16 (even though I didn't want to admit it), so to fit into my size 14's that I bought last fall is a pretty big accomplishment for me! one pants size in a little over a month puts a pretty big smile on my face! They still are a little tight on me, but at least I can do them up!
My goal is to drop one more size to comfortable fit into my old old old size 12 jeans from back in grade 10! More than that, I want to be able to wear them and strut my stuff instead of constantly pulling my pants up and shirt down to hide my belly. Slow and steady wins the race right?
Speaking of races, my Color Me Rad 5Km is sneaking up on me! I decided to try my hand at running on the treadmill... big flop that was. It wasn't a lack of will to succeed holding me back, or even my cardio (which has drastically improved thanks to the eliptical) it was my shins. My shin splints have come back full force, they are so bad that i am almost in agony after 2 minutes of running! It is a little discouraging, to want to run so bad but my body wont let me. I have tried massaging it myself, taping it, using Rub A535, heck i even went and got professionally fitted for a running shoe hoping that it would make things better. Nope, so now my next step is physiotherapy... I feel like this is a big road block in my path to rocking this upcoming 5Km. So i would like to know, have you ever had these shin splints before? is there something else I can try to help get rid of them faster? A special training plan you did to allow you to heal and run? I would love the advice because the thought of my shins not allowing me to run is really bumming me out.
To end on a happy note, even though I stopped my workouts for a few weeks and my eating was less than healthy I have still made progress. I still feel more energised when walking, less winded going up the stairs and I have even lost an extra couple inches in that few weeks! I guess I'm walking proof that more muscle burns more calories, I don't think I meant that pun at all lol!
