Fabulous vlog, John! It's one thing to read words. It's quite another to hear the words and see the person speaking them instead of seeing a profile picture that may not even be a picture of the person. You made it real!
I'm not even sure those are the questions you need to ask yourself. How the heck did they make it in the house? If it was someone other than you that bought them, I understand you asking these questions. If you bought them yourself, you should know better. I think that lifestyle starts in the grocery store, not waiting till you get home as you sort of hinted to in the video.
My daughter sent me a picture of chocolate covered potato chips today. She said they were delicious. Sure glad they were in New York instead of right in front of me.
Chips are my downfall. I love them and I weigh them so I can get them in my calorie count. But you said something that made me think. You mentioned maybe you needed a hug. Well, I thought about it and I thought that if I could get a hug everyday I would take the hug over the chips. Of course, it has to be a nice "manly, bear" hug. lol Noel
John, thanks for your openness about substituting food for an emotional need. Yes, as I examine my overeating, I'd have to admit this is the case for me. Ugh! I appreciate the reminder, gentle and true though it might be.
Another great vlog, John. Chips have to stay out of the house here since I can easily eat a whole bag. At times it's just a matter of craving the salt and crunch and a carrot just doesn't have the same appeal. Know what I mean?
Chips in moderation just doesn't work for me. Those chips looked delicious, but I know I wouldn't stop at a few... it would be the whole bag. You're right - we eat unconsciously, and we eat for comfort. Mindful eating takes a long time to develop, and eating can be very much habit-based, or clock-based.
Good for you for not eating your prop! And thanks for the video blog. My DH has never been over-weight. He can eat a few chips, or a few pieces of candy. I'm trying hard to learn to eat that way too, but there are some foods I'd rather not have around, so DH keeps his treats downstairs, where he's working on his model railway layout.
Have a good day, John, and enjoy the rest of your week. Gail
