I finally said goodbye to my coffee with the powdered who knows what creamer. :)! YAY for me! Still working on increasing my water consumption. My little additives that I put in my water are next on the cut list.
I found this wonderful site a while back www.100daysofrealfood.com It is AWESOME! I have been reading her blog and facebook page for some time now but never took the plunge to just do it until now. I started Friday by going to Whole Foods a health food store in Little Rock. Not a fun trip to get there in rush hour traffic but it was well worth it. It was much cheaper than going to Kroger for organic fresh stuff. I was really surprised! My first dish was whole wheat banana pancakes with 100% pure maple syrup. My 7 year old TORE them up! :) Next was egg salad. Everyone in the house tried it. Not everyone liked it but they did try it. Husband picked out the celery but he ate the rest! :) It also came with a side of sliced apples and sliced REAL cheddar cheese. Not the orange stuff I'm used to. OMG! It was delicious! Have you ever tried apples with cheese. WOW! We were all surprised at how good it was! I made homemade tortillas one night and actually gave my kids a choice and they chose the homemade ones! They really liked the "real" over the store bought pre-made ones. Tilapia was a huge hit with my 11 year old. My husband nor I are crazy about fish. I cooked 3 large fillets and cut them in half. My husband and I each ate a half. The 11 year old finished off the rest! I steamed fresh green beans for the 1st time in my life along with sweet potatoes. Odd combo but it was delicious! This has been an interesting journey so far and has gone WAY better than I thought it would with my family. I explained to them what GMOs are or at least what I've learned thus far and all the reasons why I wanted to cut them down in our diets. I told each of them that I really hoped they will keep an open mind in the process and so far they have! I thought they were the pickiest eaters alive. I'm thinking maybe I was wrong. :) (just don't tell my hubby I said that LOL!)
I didn't weigh in last week due to the woman visit but I CANNOT wait until tomorrow to weigh in again! LOL! Yes right now I'm excited to step on the scale. One of these days I'm going to have to break my addiction to it but for now I'll chose my battles and that's not one of them just yet. :)
Goals for this week are to stop talking about the strength training I want to do and to DO IT! I've got my exercises planned! WOO HOO!
