I wanted to take the Aqua Aerobics class at my gym, but it met in the deep end of the pool. As a small child I almost drowned so panic in deep water set in. I decided to try a class wearing aqua jogger device. I still felt stressed out. I was a poor swimmer at that time.
I wanted to do the indoor triathlon at the gym. So I took 10 swimming lessons (as an adult). I also worked with my trainer to get more comfortable in the water. I now swim 20 to 30 laps in the pool (front crawl, backstroke, breaststoke, and side stroke). I have no fear of deep water. I am enjoying myself.
Great exercise for a person with RA.
