Well, as of tonight I'll have completed the obligatory 2 week induction period. I'm down about 5 pounds. I imagine this is slow for most low-carbers, but my body really really likes holding onto unnecessary fat.
I don't have anything negative to say about the first 2 weeks of low-carbing. In fact, because things went so well, I intend to continue this phase for a while longer. How long, I haven't decided.
I just downloaded Dr. Akins' "New Diet Revolution" after I've completed "Why We Get Fat" by Taubes. I also have in downloaded "Good Calories, Bad Calories." We'll see what guidelines work for me and what guidelines don't. I'm open to many interpretations to test what works for my body.
I imagine the weight loss will be slow and steady from here on out, which is ok. As long as things are headed in the right direction, I'm ok with it. I haven't measured myself, but I did notice that my suit fits me better.
Snowboarding Saturday was a disaster, and I wound up falling quite hard on my head, neck, and back. I think I may have a minor concussion- I'm feeling better than I did Sunday (I was vomiting and had a splitting headache). My stomach has settled and I no longer have the headache. My back hurts though- which has definitely impeded my ability to exercise.
On a positive note, we are finally painting the main floor of our new home. It has been dreadfully dull for the last 2 months with matte white primer on the walls and really dark floors. Our kitchen is now a very warm purple, almost blue-ish. Our main floor bathroom is a gorgeous navy blue. The living room will be off-white. The dining area will have an accent wall with damask wall paper (white on white sheen or something of the like). The entire main floor will have wainscoting and crown molding. My husband is also going to build a "table" area behind our sectional sofa for decorations and a lamp. Also, he will build a coffee table. He has been hard at work this week (his Spring Break) trying to accomplish all of this. There are many items he won't get to, but it's starting to feel like we finally live in a home and not just a house.
Best wishes to all Sparkers out there!
