Let Your JOY Grow

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Human felicity is produced not so much by great pieces of good fortune that seldom happen , as by little advantages that occur every day. " Benjamin Franklin

Ever wonder how some people are never happy.? If you ask them why they say something like I haven't won the lottery again. I had another bad day or every day is just bad. They seem to find tons of reasons why their day went bad and most of the blame goes to someone or something else.

Then there are the happy people always smiling always helpful they always have the right thing to say to cheer you. If you ask them they say every day is a good day . They are seldom negative .

What is the difference you may ask? Well the happy people know how to find joy in the moment. They don't wait for happiness to find them they go out and find happiness
. They find happiness and joy in the simple things in life. They don't wait to win the lottery or get the big promotion ,or to move to a new house. They are just joyful for where they are at any given moment in their lives.

So here is a short list of things that made me happy this week. Please add yours to the comments, because we all need more happiness in our lives.

I saw a picture of my new niece Taelynn she is 5 months , in the picture she was smiling and sleeping..
I sat alone at break , but I had an awesome book as a friend to keep me company
I was having a busy hard day at work and then I stopped sipped my tea, took some deep breaths and lo and behold things got better.
I chatted and laughed with a friend at lunch ,I told her how happy I was my daughter found a dress for the prom that she loved and that it was free, from a friend
I had a good workout at the gym ,even though the Kardashians were on the TV in the background .
I smiled on my daily walk with the dog, because my daughter was with me and it was not as cold as it usually is. Plus we walked a little longer
I found joy in the fact my husband fixed my break lights on the car.
I was happy we finished my turkey soup for supper filled with vegetables and nutrients.
I was happy my daughter serenaded me with her guitar , she taught herself to play and is doing so much better.
I was happy that I could do the Dr Oz's belly challenge first exercise. It was hard but I did it!!!
I was happy to curl up early in my nice warm bed in my nice warm house.

Note: All this happiness and joy happened in one day. Happiness and joy are everywhere in our lives we just need to learn how to sort them out and find those special nuggets of pure gold. Stop waiting to win the lottery and find your happiness now.

How often do we stop and actually live our lives instead of living someone else's version. You make it sound wonderful and now I'm off to celebrate everything that I had previously overlooked while I was too "busy" living. Thanks

Thanks everyone for all the happiness sharing!

I am happy today that I took yesterday off and relaxed and slept all day. My body was totally worn out and I needed that.

Today, being rejuvinated I will accomplish a lot!

I used to focus on the past (which made me sad), and the future, (which made me scared). Then I looked at my dog. She lived in the moment and her tagged wagged just because I talked to her. I decided I wanted to live like my dog. In the moment. She isn't worried about what is going to happen tomorrow. She is happy to have a warm couch to lay on and a scritch behind the ears.

Things that made me happy. Winning the Oscar pool, because Life of Pi the most beautiful movie I have ever seen did well.
Taking Isha for a walk and having her play with a GSD puppy. She enjoyed her time at the park and that made me happy.
Being able to hold my plank for a full minute on my first PT session. I never thought I would be able to do that, and the trainer was impressed also.
My mom's toe feeling better, the gout must be subsiding.
Having a FB friend teach Dance With Me, and I was finally able to take his class because he usually teaches in Glendale and I can't make it out there.

    Beautiful blog.
What has made me happy is my daffodils are standing tall again, after the snow buried them.
The birds are everywhere in my yard now, love hearing their song, hope they build nests in all my birdhouses. I could go on, but thank you, loved your list. Have a happy day. emoticon (couldn't find a bird) :)

The word that comes to mind is GRATEFUL and I also believe that faith plays an important role in being happy - Here some of mine today -

Its snowing Knee deep - tons of traffic - but I have great collection of CD's to Jam too on my way to parents to Shovel as a matter of fact I happy to see my parents and to help them. I am grateful they are still here with us.

Making snow Angels with my Granddaughters and neighbor kids, cause I am just a huge kid at Heart.

I could fill up your whole page with Good things but you are right the individual person has to find that happiness inside themselves - we all have it ! Great blog - think I'll go sledding !! Hugs K emoticon

That was terrific. Here are a couple of mine to add:
-I got a 17 minute walk in before work
-On my walk, I enjoyed the beautiful lights on the trees in Freeway Park that look like falling snowflakes
-The man at the parking garage booth smiled and waved like he always does in the morning
-I drank a yummy grapefruit cucumber juice (it deserves another yummy, so yummy)
-I talked with my boyfriend before work
-I might have an opportunity to help out a friend in a small way
-I saw pink clouds during the sunrise this morning.
-I'm off to get weekly fruit for the office (nice they do that for us)
