"I am the person your parents warned you about. Don't talk to people on-line." My oldest was laughing about this post on her Twitter page. It also got me thinking about SparkPeople!
We pour our hearts, souls and sometimes even our "bodies" into this site. I'm sure all of us that have kids have warned them about what to post on Facebook, Twitter, My Space, etc. Yet, here we are "laying it all our there." If only our kids knew!!
I think that sometimes it's easy to "talk" to people that we don't have to see face-to-face! It's less judgemental even though this is a very nonjudgemental place. Then, after we blog or post on a thread, we see how supportive this community is and it's all "downhill from there!"
I've said it before, but I'll say it again...I really wish that I could meet each of my SparkFriends face-to-face. It would be so great to sit down and chat over a cup of coffee. To share our stories of this journey in a more personal setting.
I know one of my local SparkTeams is having a "reunion" next month. This will be the third time we've met up. Each time I meet different people, which I really like. I hope I can see some "old" friends, too!
It will be nice to offer support where needed, share the successes and see how people have changed. Changed not only physically, but mentally. I love to see a person "blossom" into themselves where they feel good in their own skin.
So here's to all of us "breaking the rules" of talking to people on-line! I'm so GLAD I DID!
