Did you know that food has calories? Of course you did! Perhaps I'm the only one who never made this connection before. OK, OK, I have known for a long time that food has calories, but I never thought before about the accumulation of calories over the course of the day.
I was in high school in the 1990s during the low-fat craze, which took hold of me, definitely. I used to count my fat grams and tried to stay under a certain number. (I don't remember what that number was, but it's certainly a lot less than 39-82 grams SparkPeople tells me I should consume.) Maybe counting fat is easier than counting calories, smaller numbers and all that, but I never thought to really count calories until I started tracking my food.
(Yes, you might be thinking, "Seriously?! Another blog post about tracking food from KABMPH?!") Good thing there aren't many of you who read my blog!
So now when I put something into my mouth (e.g., the cookie dough I made yesterday), I actually think, "This has CALORIES. It adds to my daily total on my food tracker!"
What a fascinating concept. :)
