I am so proud of me!

I am so proud of me! It has been week ago today that I quit smoking! Even though there are still times that I could go for a cigarette I have not smoked emoticon . One of my triggers to smoke is when I have drank alcohol. Last Saturday I did have a few drinks but guess what I let the urge pass and I did not give in. Everyone is saying how proud they are of me and that they are surprised that I am going so good not smoking. I have decided to use the Nicoderm patch as a back up and I that that has helped me as well. I have made a list to remind myself of my "go to's" which are things that I can do instead of smoking and they are as follows.

-brush my teeth/use mouth wash
-read
-do a crossword puzzle
-drink water
-talk to someone about it
-exercise
-take a breath and relax
-think about the positives and negative of not smoking and smoking
use the patch

Congratulations! I have never been a smoker but I know how it feels to use food like it was a cigarette! Your back up plan is a good one for trying not to eat too. (Except for the patch) Wouldn't it be nice if they had a patch to help us stop eating? (lol) emoticon

I, too, am so proud of you. As an x smoker, I can assure that the urges pass. They will come and if you do not pay too much attention to them they go away without you realizing you had had the urge. Your backups are great, especially the 'brush your teeth.' emoticon

That is so amazing! I know how hard it is to quit so I give you props for making it so far. Those alternatives to smoking will be a big help. I found the lozenges and gum to help me quite a lot, and after a while I switched to regular gum. Anything to reinforce the good behavior.
Good for you!

So awesome!!!! My husband quit about 27 years ago. He fees good.

It's good to have back up ideas instead of stress. You can develop that list, because different things will work for different occasions.

I'm proud of you. If you need help, come here, and see if someone helps, when you need it, Ok?
