Father Passed Away! (can't let everything go)

Monday, February 25, 2013

My Father passed away and I am still going through all those stages they talk about. I did not log in during the time I was away. I live in CA, but my parents live in Utah, so I went there for 6 days f or the funeral. Tough, but will get through it! I drove up with my Sister (long drive). The first thing she said when I got in the car, was I am going to EAT whatever I want and I don't care what anyone thinks or says. She knows I am always trying to be healthy. She purchased a ton of chocolates and had them in the car in the front seat. Yes, I had a few and that was it. I watched it though! I know if you disregard taking care of yourself and gain too much weight in a week, I know I would go into a depression of the weight gain and then it's way too hard to take it off. I did good and I am proud of myself! Bumps in the road of life, some big and some small, but I have learned you cannot let yourself go over a bump in the road no matter how big or small. I got sick over the time gone as well, so that does not help, but logging in helps and I am trying to get back on track. To getting back on track! emoticon I still have my goal and have not forgotten about it. Everyday I log onto Sparks, reminds me of my goal and lifestyle changes.

I just saw your blog and wanted to say I am sorry that you have lost your dad. I think it's better to feel sad--how could you feel otherwise--than to try to cover up the sadness with food. I admire your awareness, even when someone else was doing something else.

My Dad died in 2000 and I still miss him! I also see him in me and my children and that is a comfort and a joy. Take care.

I'm sorry you lost your dad. Losing parents is hard. Take care of yourself, though. Think about what he would tell you to do!

Sorry for your loss. I've lost both my parents so I understand your loss.
Staying healthy is important even in trying times. My one sister and SIL and I tried very hard to not go on binges while we were in CA for my sisters funeral. It's tough.

My Dad died 3-1/4 years ago. They were married for over 50 years. Eventhough my Dad was a recovering alcoholic only 4 years before he died, Mom still misses him. So do I but I know he is in a much better place. Good for you for staying strong in the car. You have to be healthy to not only help your Mom but you too.

    emoticon Sorry for your loss.
I've lost both my parents and know your sadness. Proud you were able to stop yourself from the sabotage of chocolates. A piece or two is natural, but don't undo what you've worked so hard to accomplish.

First, sorry to hear about your father. It's never easy.

It sounds like you managed to stay somewhat in the game. Breath and realize you are human and things come and go. Getting healthy is not a diet, it's a long term getting healthy lifestyle thing. Hang in there, and be kind to yourself.
