I can’t believe February is almost done. January was spent recovering from surgery. A few weeks in, I had a minor infection that required some antibiotics. I healed well, though, and was cleared at 6 weeks to begin exercising (although I cheated a bit and exercised lightly a few days earlier than that…shhh!).
Change sure has been a constant in my life recently (is that an oxymoron, or what?). I returned to work after 5 weeks and learned that my job function would be changing—again. I have been taking lots of classes for my new role in third party management. I also travel to Virginia for a week each month, which takes a lot out of me. I must be getting old!
On top of the job change, our company has moved me to a new office location in Schaumburg. This increased my commute to 40 miles each way. Not to mention the additional time spent commuting…it’s miserable. It wouldn’t be so bad if I were still able to work from home a few days a week, but our director put the kibosh on that, so I am racking up the miles going to the office every day. I was pretty unhappy about that, but for now I need to just deal with it. I can’t afford to waste energy being upset about things I have no control over. I will go in early to work out in the on-site fitness center 2-3 days, beating some of the traffic by being the early bird.
I was hoping to be much closer to my final weight goal by now, but the mandatory weeks of inactivity kinda killed that. I still want to lose about 20-25 lbs. I haven’t gained any weight, so that is a plus. I also retained pretty good muscle tone, and my body is responding well to the workouts.
So, all in all, I’m looking ahead instead of looking back. My main goal this year is to be more organized and plan better for my overall health and fitness. More on that later. Have a great day.
