Day 17 - Pushing through!

Monday, February 25, 2013

I woke up feeling somewhat better... I don't have a fever, but my throat and nasal symptoms persist. Since my symptoms were all from the neck up, I figured it would be safe to do my run after all!

This is a huge deal for me; there was a time when I would take any excuse I could get to avoid a workout. Today, however, my desire to change is outweighing my desire to make excuses... so I got up at 7 am on this frigid morning, I put on my workout gear, and got myself to the gym, determined to reach my goal of getting in three runs this week. My cat (sleeping from the comfort of my electric blanket) looked at me like I was crazy, haha.

And you know what? I feel better having run. Getting more oxygen into my system and getting my blood flowing might actually help me fight off the rest of this cold faster.

Know what else? I like what I see in the mirror. Yes, I've lost a few lbs, but that's not even what I mean. My face looks radiant... my skin is clear and glowing, and there is just this aura -- the vitality and beauty that comes after I've been running consistently for a few weeks. I forgot about how it happens, but running really does make me feel good about myself.

I'm so glad I could get back to this point after such a long hiatus. I hope I never forget how good it feels.

That is awesome that you ran despite feeling poorly instead of letting that be a reason for you not to do it! Keep it up!

emoticon It's hard to get going when you feel good on cold dark mornings, let alone when you don't feel 100%. Good job!

Yes! Even when I'm battling congestion from allergies.... it always makes me feel better to exercise. It really helps to break all that stuff up.

What a wonderful feeling, when we are finally able to make smart choices instead of excuses! I hope you never forget how good it feels either.

Way to keep going! I had to motivate my hubby yesterday when we got to the gym... he forgot his ipod, and was whining about it (I knew if we had gone back to get it, he probably wouldn't have went back to the gym). I told him sometimes you just gotta suck and up and deal with it. I also told him that when you work out when you DON'T want to - the next day you won't regret it... but if you skip your workout, or don't give it your best, the next day you WILL regret it and then it feeds the cycle of not wanting to go because you're not getting results.

Since I hit about 12 weeks pregnant, the round ligament pain is awful... and it is everyday, no matter what, and there's nothing that I can do about it. But I still get out and walk, I do what I can, and I'm anxious to be able to get outside and walk to supplement my gym time.
You're right though... pushing through is the best thing that we can do for our total wellbeing.
Keep it up! You are awesome!
