Tech Free Weekend and 0ther Ramblings
Monday, February 25, 2013
Well, this weekend, I attempted to go computer free. Did I have to count my smartphone? I actually did really well. I did not turn the computer on at all and I think I spent a total of 5 minutes on my smartphone for the whole weekend. I considered that a great success.
I'm a card maker. And it's been a long time since I spent any amount of time making cards. Making cards for me is very therapeutic and I forgot how much I enjoy doing it. So this weekend, since I wasn't going to be 'wasting' time on the computer, I spent it making cards. And I loved it! This is a sample of the cards I made this weekend.
I was able to get outside and get a couple of runs in. They were shorter runs of under 5 miles but, it felt soooo good to not have to run on the treadmill. My hubby and I went walking in our woods yesterday afternoon so I got an additional workout, trekking through knee-deep snow. We were a quarter of the way down the trail before we realized that we should have strapped on the snow-shoes. Lesson learned!
Did you stay up to watch the Oscars? I didn't make it very far. I mainly watch to see what the ladies are wearing. I didn't have any favorites this year, did you? I will say, it was awesome to see Robin Roberts reporting. I watched a special 20/20 about her journey, that she experienced this past year. What an amazing person. I wish the media would focus more on individuals like her as heroes.
I also wanted to update everyone on the challenge that I'm doing for Lent this year. It's called the 40 acts and the link can be found here:
What I'm getting from the challenge is that as an individual there is a lot that I can do to live a better life and to help those around me live better. The simple act of smiling and sharing a touch really makes a difference in someone's life.
Have an incredible week!
