Running Goals before Summer

Sunday, February 24, 2013

Running is one of the exercises I have been focusing on in the last couple of months. I wrote a blog last May and here was one of the quotes I wrote "Today I ran a whole mile in 12 minutes and 30 seconds. I have never ran for that long without stopping!!
My next goal is to run a 10 minute mile! " I have made so much progress since then. I now can run a 10 minutes mile. I can also run 3.10 miles without stopping.
While I have my good days and bad days. Some days I struggle with running more than a mile and some days I can run the 3.1 and feel great. The one thing I have noticed is no matter how tired I am I can always run a mile. I remember doing the mile run in high school and I never could of ran that straight. I always ended up walking. So now at the age of 24 I can honestly say I can successfully run a mile easily.

March running goals- By the end of March I would like to run 4 miles straight. I am going to focus on pushing myself to eventually run that much. Each week I will running a little farther. I figured by the end of week 1 I should be able to do 3.5 miles. Then, 3.75 and so forth.
April running goals- I want to be able to run 4 miles easily and beat my times.

I'm always working on my 5K times thanks to my wonderful BLC Sapphire group on Spark. When I first started my 5K time was 39:43. I am now at 33:09. My next goal is to be able to run it under 30 minutes. I am hoping to make this goal by the end of March.

On April 28th I am doing the Trolley Run in Kansas City. It is a 4 mile run. There are different stages and I want to be in the run between 40-45 minutes. I am not going to allow myself to do the run/walking one. I really want to prove to myself that I can do a 4 mile run. I am doing it with a lady from work, so next month we plan on running outside on the days that are nicer after work.

I never thought I would say this but "I am becoming a runner!" It helps that I have lost 73lbs and has made it a lot easier on my body to run.

You have great goals Stasha! You'll be able to do four miles in no time! I hear ya on struggling some days. It's rough some times and other times I don't want to stop after 3 miles (crazy, right?!?). The important thing is to keep up the great attitude and power through and you're definitely doing that! emoticon

You can do it! And thank you for encouraging me with this. Health issues stopped my running back in October/November and I haven't started back up again because it's too cold and I hate running on a treadmill. But I miss running. I was running 10+ miles a week and now I think I would struggle with 1 again. :/ My goal is to run again this week! Maybe not 10+ miles, but just run!
