Fitness Centers around here don't seem to be user friendly ...

Sunday, February 24, 2013

emoticonI just finished my first trial week at a local fitness center ... I loved it ... well at least I loved the exercise.
I tried a couple of times to get someone to show me something that would replace the exercise machine that they had a few years ago but no one was ever available to help. The last day I was there I asked if there was someone to walk me through when I returned the next time (as a member) and they couldn't get enough of me. I decided to move on to another place to see what they had to offer before making my decision ... I'll start there tomorrow morning ... 2 weeks to check them out.

When talking with the girl to get an idea of what to expect I learned that I would be pretty much on my own for that two weeks. There wouldn't be anyone to help me out until I signed my life away and started paying. I do have a schedule so I know when the classes are, but there are only a couple that I am really interested in. For now I'll be relying on the stationary/recumbent bikes and a little circuit training. After my 2 weeks are up I have one more place to check before making my decision ... I sure hope one of the three (they are much closer than the others in the area) ends up being a good fit for me.

I sure would like a better idea of what I'm getting myself into before I part with my money ... and I also want to know that I'm doing the exercises properly so there isn't injury! If I'm going to commit to someplace for 2 years I want to know what to expect. You would think any fitness center would like me to be a safe and well informed member ...

Oh, I know how you feel! I haven't been to a gym for a long time because of that very thing! I'm going to try my hubby's - he says they are good - I hope he knows what he's talking about!

Good luck!

HUGS!

You are smart to take your time and find the right fit place for you. Can you schedule an appointment to have someone show you all the equipment? I belong to the YMCA and that's how they do it.

Would you feel comfortable starting up a conversation with someone who is already a member? Ask them what they like and/or don't like about the facility? If possible choose a woman about your same age.

emoticon Good Luck
