My Dream Trip up the Amazon River

Sunday, February 24, 2013

I've never been to the Amazon River, but it holds a special place in my dreams. It has always seemed like the most exotic place on the planet to me.

I would love to rent a luxury yacht and travel upriver as far as we could go. We would have no schedule - it could be 2 months or 2 years (money, of course, would be no object either).

There would be a crew aboard who would take care of all the boat stuff, as well as all the housekeeping! And we would have a gourmet chef who would cook fantastic healthy meals and would do all my nutrition tracking for me! Also, there would be a gym aboard and a personal trainer.

We would have an experienced jungle guide who would find all the animals and birds that I want to see.

We would find giant anteaters:

and Amazon Dolphins with their insane grins:

and every beautiful bird on the river:

and monkeys, and marmosets and Golden Lion Tamarins:

and lots of Giant River Otters:

and other animals some people wouldn't like but I want to see!

The inside of the yacht would look like this:

After we got tired of the Amazon, we'd head back down the river and across the Atlantic to the Congo River! Wow, I don't want much, do I!

Thank you for the trip, I really enjoyed it. I just think to get that size bathroom is going to remain a dream. But dream away, as dreams are the start of reality.

I have made 9 mission trips to Peru, and my favorite parts involved traveling by "lancha" ( a large 2-3 deck ferry type boat) and "peque-peque" ( a canoe-ish type boat powered by a removable motor called by the sound it makes - peque (Peck-kay) (say it several times fast). While I haven't made any deep-jungle forays, I have visited small villages. I love the jungle region of Peru, but I've also traveled along the coast. The yacht sounds wonderful, of course. Now that I'm dealing with arthritis, I may not travel by lancha or peque again, as boarding and disembarking may be too much of a challenge.
Save your money, honey - you may still be able at least to take a tour!
Blessings on your journey to a healthy lifestyle, and may at least part of your dreams come to pass!
