Plus and Minus Day

Saturday, February 23, 2013

The day today was blue sky gorgeous and cool with that wind-blowing-off-an-ice-field feeling. I took a walk on my lunch break - first real walk since I can't remember when. It felt great, even if I am a turtle!

The walk was the plus as was the realization that I was able to breathe through the minimal exercise. I am almost over this cold - six weeks later.

The minuses were many, but I will record only one. Lunch was at In n Out. Yes, I know better. It was across the parking lot from SuperCuts. I went to an In n Out years ago when the first one in the county opened. That was about 6 years ago. I did not care for it and did not understand why the lines are tremendously long all the time! The place I went to today is much newer and is in a different county. The lines were tremendously long inside and in the drive-through. I ate the burger but tossed most of the fries. Won't be eating there again.

But I will commend the staff. Despite the constant stream of people, the nonstop work, they were cheerful, friendly, efficient and the best fast food staff I have ever encountered. I will be writing a letter of praise to the manager/franchise owner about his staff. I do believe in brownie points!

emoticon I have actually eaten at an In-n Out twice. I can't really say much for their food, but I did notice the staff was very upbeat and professional. That is somewhat surprising since one was in California and the other was in Texas.

I liked In and Out Burger when I ate there on a trip to CA. They wrapped my burger in a lettuce wrap so I could avoid the bun - great stuff for someone who is gluten intolerant.

emoticon Hardest thing I ever did was that first walk during lunch time. I do it in front of the staff and students. I've even had a student walk with me several minutes one day.

emoticon We took the first steps.

Good for you getting the walk done!! Hard to believe a cold would last that long -are sure it was just a cold and not something more serious, especially with the difficulty breathing? I just had a Spark friend who was diagnosed with both the flu AND pneumonia and she got the shots!!
Good on you praising the fast food outlet's staff in writing to the manager. All too often little thanks are given to people dealing with such a job. I don't think I would have thrown out the fries -would have preferred them over the burger for sure.
I hope things get better for you now that you are on the mend..
