The joys of paperwork

Saturday, February 23, 2013

I spent most of the day, sorting all the receipts from the last
year into various piles. The entire table was covered with
piles and finally, the sorting is done. Now I will cross-check
to make sure I have everything documented. I know if I look
at last year's return, I will find some things that I have missed.
Better now than later.
Again, just like SP, it is better to be on top of things now
and focus. Today is the day. Why wait? I would love to say
it will get easier but putting it off just makes it that much
harder. So do today what needs to be done.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Sunday. HUGS!

I totally HATE paperwork until I finally get into it..then I'm just as anal about getting it RIGHT as I am in every other aspect of my life.

Believe me since we opened our little consignment gallery I've NEVER been so unindated with paperwork.

I know software is the solution...but I can't find one that does all of the steps I need done..and I refuse to pay out thousands of dollars for a half job Louie!

If ONLY I were a programmer...I'd develop my the meantime it's spreadsheet city. emoticon

Sounds like you were keeping busy. This time of year it seems the paperwork is all around us. Good job on getting things done.

I try to do mine each month for each account. I used to do taxes for a guy who would just bring in all his mail--in a big box, unopened!! and I'd have to sort through it all. It got so I started hating tax time--I finally told him I couldn't do his taxes anymore---just toooooo much

I know what you mean. That was my main project from last weekend. It drove me to eat last Sat., but Sunday I did it first and got it out of the way!

I have found if I keep a spreadsheet and list things as they happen I do not miss nearly as much when I prepare stuff for our taxes. At the end of the year the work is pretty much done and it isn't nearly as much work if you list things as they happen. Just a suggestion.
I do one for medical, one for interest, one for miscellaneous deductions, donations etc. Then I file the recipts in a folder and it is all right there. Everyone can tailor their spreadsheet(s) to their needs. I learned this on the job-I did accounting for 20 years. Computers made life sooooo much easier than all that listing in spreadsheets by hand. What took me a week could be done in hours.
